Best Ways to Celebrate the 4th of July

You can still have a fun 4th of July in St George, even with the COVID-19 restrictions. Here are ideas of what you could do to celebrate our nation's birthday.

Backyard BBQ

Who doesn’t love some good barbeque on the Fourth of July? Break out the BBQ and grill all of your family favorites! If you are the competitive type, host a cookout competition to see who grills the best meat.

Watch the 4th of July Parade

Luckily this year you won’t have to miss out on the annual St George 4th of July parade! Enjoy decked out parade floats, classic cars, music, and more.

Run or Walk the Uncle Sam 4K

Join other residents of the St George area to run or walk a 4K on the morning of the Fourth of July! Whether you do this virtually or in person, it will definitely be an event you won’t forget.

Hot Dog Eating Contest

Just because there won’t be a celebration at the park this year doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a hot dog eating contest. Instead, host your own! Grill up a few packs of hot dogs and see who is the ultimate champion.

Wear Red, White, & Blue

Feeling patriotic? Deck out your outfit with red, white, and blue! Bust out that Old Navy American Flag shirt and go to town. If you’re feeling extra patriotic, grab some red, white, and blue accessories to go with your outfit!

Keep Cool

There’s no doubt about it - St George on the Fourth of July is hotter than Hades. Luckily, it’s the perfect time to break out a slip-n-slide or have a pool party! Water activities are one of the best ways to keep cool on our nation’s birthday.

Make Patriotic Desserts

Whether you were assigned to bring a treat to the family BBQ or you just want something tasty, try making a patriotic dessert! Here are some of our favorites:

Tour National Museums Virtually

If you are a museum buff, take a tour of national museums or landmarks virtually! Visit the Statue of Liberty, various battlefields, the Museum of Flight, or the National Museum of American History!

Outdoor Games

Spend the night versing each other in games like corn hole, Spikeball, or ladder golf. If you want things to get a little more intense, have a water balloon fight!

Fireworks, Sparklers, Pop-Its

While waiting for the fireworks show the city puts on, set off your own fireworks (where allowed)! Don’t forget about the pop-its and sparklers for the kids...and adults. There’s nothing better than setting off fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Watch the Fireworks Show

After a day filled with fun, watch the most spectacular fireworks show St George has ever put on! This year, they are shooting the fireworks off Tech Ridge, giving the entire city a perfect view.

Have a great Independence Day!
